Prototype racing is exceptionally popular now with the Hypercar category of cars leading the way. The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is widely regarded as the pinnacle of endurance racing with the USA-based IMSA SportsCar Championship coming in a close second.
The LMP2 category in the WEC was removed for the 2024 season with only Hypercars and GT3 remaining. However, LMP2 and more specifically, the Dallara P217 LMP2 lives on in iRacing in various series. We've written previously several times about multi-class racing and covered some of the skills you will need to navigate traffic and understand how to race on a track where more than one class of vehicle is racing.
The iRacing LMP2 Prototype Challenge despite its name, is a sing-class series featuring the Dallara P217 LMP2.
