Three new cars announced for Raceroom

We don't often write about Raceroom Racing Experience mainly because it doesn't have a sound, built-in skill-based matchmaking system for online multiplayer. We're also not fans of the dated graphics and lack of support for modern sim racing hardware.

For example, we tried hooking our Fanatec Podium F1 wheel/wheelbase with our Clubsport V3 pedals and struggled to detect and set up the steering rotation. This was quite a while back, and this new content drop gives us cause to give it another go.

KTM X-Bow GT2

KTM X-Bow GT2

First on the list is the unusual-looking but somewhat effective KTM X-Bow GT2 powered by a five-cylinder Audi engine developing 600hp. The car features an F1-style carbon fibre monocoque that contributes to its low weight of 1048kg.

McLaren 570S GT4

McLaren 570S GT4

McLaren has a long history in motorsport racing in many categories, with multiple wins and championships. Their 570S  GT4 is one step down from its 720S GT3 big brother, but it's not that much slower. It's powered by a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 that drives the rear wheels via a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox. This powerful engine is coupled to a carbon fibre chassis that gives the 570S impeccable handling that has already seen it win eight championship titles.

Mazda RT-24P

Mazda RT-24P

Prototypes in endurance racing have always been popular with the current generation of LMH and LMDh cars representing the latest technologies in WEC and IMSA. However, the Mazda RT-24P is an IMSA prototype that raced in the DPi class with mixed results. It won a few races but was never a consistent front-runner. Even though it's been replaced by LMDh cars in real-world racing, it's a welcome addition to Raceroom's relatively thin lineup of prototypes.

Final thoughts

We didn't expect this content drop for Raceroom to become available in early April 2023, but we're glad it happened. This is a good blend of cars, and we're hoping that Raceroom will keep it up and releases more new content to revitalise the game.
